A New Amenity Space in Soulard

Castlewood Contracting, a full service contractor out of St. Peters, brought us in to document one of their latest projects: a newly completed pool build at Soho Apartments in Soulard. Soho is a luxury apartment complex developed by Lux Living, and the pool was the finishing touch on a space designed to give residents a resort style amenity right in the heart of downtown St. Louis.

Castlewood needed marketing material that would actually show off the craftsmanship that went into the build. That meant photos and video that captured the pool from every angle, the details in the finishes, and the overall feel of the space once it was complete.

Documenting the Build

We spent the shoot capturing a full range of imagery, from wide drone shots that show the pool in context with the surrounding building and downtown skyline, down to close up details of the tile work, decking, and finishing touches that make a project like this stand out. The goal was to give Castlewood a complete visual record of the finished pool that they could use across their marketing, whether that's their website, social media, or pitching future clients on the quality of their work.

The drone footage in particular does a lot of heavy lifting here. It shows the scale of the amenity deck and how the pool fits into the overall Soho Apartments property, something that's hard to convey with ground level shots alone. Pairing that with tighter, detail focused photography gives a full picture of both the big design decisions and the small finishing work that went into the build.

Why Video Matters for Contracting Marketing

Along with the photos, we also put together video footage of the completed pool space. For a contractor like Castlewood, video adds another layer to how they can showcase their work. A still photo can show off a finished detail, but video lets the space breathe a little, giving potential clients a better sense of flow and scale as the camera moves through the amenity area.

That combination of photo and video is something we lean on a lot for architectural and construction projects. Clients want more than a handful of static images they can drop into a portfolio. They want material that tells the story of the build from start to finish, and video is a big part of making that happen.

Working With Contractors on Marketing Material

Projects like this one for Castlewood Contracting are a good reminder of how much photography and video matter once construction wraps up. A contractor can put months of work into a build, but if the final result isn't documented well, that work doesn't translate into the kind of marketing material that wins the next job. Clean, professional imagery of a finished pool, a completed build out, or any other architectural project gives contractors something tangible to show prospective clients exactly what they're capable of.

For a project like Soho Apartments, that meant capturing the pool in a way that reflects the luxury positioning of the property itself. Lux Living built Soho as a high end living option in Soulard, and the finished amenity space needed photography and video that matched that standard.
