A New Katie's Pizza Lands in Crestwood

I recently had the chance to photograph the newest Katie's Pizza location as it opened its doors in Crestwood, Missouri. This marks the fourth restaurant in the Katie's Pizza family, a growing local brand built by owner Katie Lee. Each location has its own personality, and Crestwood is no exception.

Walking into a freshly finished space always has a certain energy to it. The paint is barely dry, the lighting is dialed in for the first time, and everything is set up exactly the way the design team intended before a single customer walks through the door. That was the mood on this shoot, capturing a restaurant in its very first, cleanest form.

Working With Russell Construction

This project came to me through Russell Construction, the contractor responsible for building out the new Crestwood location. They brought me in to photograph the completed restaurant once construction wrapped, and it's exactly the kind of work I love doing. Contractors put months of planning and craftsmanship into a space, and good photography is how that work gets documented and shared.

For a contractor, these images matter beyond just looking nice. They become part of a portfolio, they show potential clients what a finished project actually looks like, and they give everyone involved, from the architects to the ownership group, a clear record of what was built. Russell Construction understood that value, and it showed in how organized the walkthrough was on shoot day.

Photographing a Restaurant Before It Opens

There's something particular about shooting a restaurant right before it opens to the public. Every table is set, every light fixture is positioned, and the space is quiet enough that you can really focus on composition without worrying about foot traffic or service happening in the background.

For Katie's Pizza in Crestwood, that meant paying close attention to how the dining room felt as a whole. Restaurant photography isn't just about a few pretty shots of the bar or the entrance. It's about giving the owner and the design team a full visual record of the space they created, from wide shots that show the layout to closer details that highlight finishes and fixtures.

Crestwood now joins the list of communities with their own Katie's Pizza, and I'm glad I got to be part of capturing that moment for both the restaurant and the team at Russell Construction who built it.
