A Renovation Worth Documenting
I got a call to photograph a beautiful home renovation project in Chesterfield, Missouri for Castlewood Contracting, a full service contractor based out of St. Peters. Castlewood had just wrapped up a serious transformation inside this home, new kitchen, refreshed living room, and a private office space that all got a complete overhaul. This wasn't a quick paint job. It was the kind of project that deserved to be documented properly, from the studs to the final styled shot.
When a contractor puts this much craftsmanship into a home, the marketing material needs to match that level of quality. That's where we came in.
Before, During, and After
Castlewood hired us to build out a full media plan that told the whole story of this project, not just the finished product. That meant three distinct phases of coverage.
We started with before photos, capturing the kitchen, living room, and office spaces in their original state. Those images matter more than people realize. They give future clients context for just how far a space can be pushed when the right team is behind it.
From there, we set up timelapse cameras to run during the renovation itself. Watching a kitchen go from demo to studs to finished cabinetry compressed into a short clip is one of the most satisfying kinds of content a contractor can put in front of a potential client. It shows process, it shows scale, and it builds trust in a way that static photos alone can't.
Once the dust settled, we came back in for the after photos, the polished, final images of the completed kitchen, living room, and office. These are the shots that do the heavy lifting on Castlewood's website, social channels, and sales materials going forward.
Why This Approach Works for Contractors
A lot of contractors only think to hire a photographer once the project is done. I get it, that's the shot everyone wants. But the before and during content is what actually sells the transformation. Anyone can photograph a finished kitchen and make it look nice. It's a lot more powerful when a potential client can see exactly what that space looked like before Castlewood ever picked up a hammer.
This Chesterfield project is a great example of that. The kitchen renovation alone represents the kind of high end work that speaks for itself once you can actually see the full arc of the transformation. Pairing strong before and after photography with timelapse video gives a contractor like Castlewood a complete content library they can use across every platform, from their website to proposals to social media.
Working in Chesterfield
Chesterfield has no shortage of beautiful homes, and this project was a great reminder of why. The scale of the renovation, the quality of materials, and the craftsmanship that went into the kitchen, living room, and office all made for a home that photographs beautifully once the work was complete. If you're a homeowner in Chesterfield looking at a renovation of your own, this is the kind of result that's possible when the right contractor is involved.
A Long-Term Partnership with Castlewood Contracting
This project is part of an ongoing relationship with Castlewood Contracting, capturing their renovation work across the St. Louis area. Full service contractors like Castlewood take on projects that are visually striking from start to finish, and having a documented before, during, and after story gives them content that actually reflects the level of work they do.
If you run a construction or architectural business and you're only capturing the finished product, you're leaving a lot of storytelling on the table. The before shots, the timelapse footage, and the after gallery all work together to build trust with future clients before they ever pick up the phone.
