A Shoot on Cardinals Turf

Some assignments come with a location you simply can't recreate in a studio. Photographing Chaim Bloom at Busch Stadium was one of those days. The ballpark itself became part of the story, giving the portraits a sense of place that instantly connects Chaim to the Cardinals organization and to St. Louis.

Working inside Busch Stadium meant paying attention to details most visitors never notice: the way afternoon light falls across the field, the sightlines from the dugout, the textures of brick and ivy that make the stadium recognizable to anyone who follows baseball. Those elements gave us a backdrop that felt authentic rather than staged.

Shooting for Sophisticated Living Magazine

This session was created for Sophisticated Living Magazine, a publication that reaches more than 100,000 affluent readers per issue. That kind of circulation raises the bar. The portraits needed to hold up on a printed page, read well at a glance, and represent Chaim in a way that felt polished and true to who he is.

We kept the shoot efficient without rushing the work. In a short window of time, we captured a full set of portraits and also sat down for a brief video interview with Craig Kaminer, the magazine's publisher. Having Craig on set added another layer to the day, turning a portrait session into a small piece of editorial storytelling.

Why Location and Story Matter in Personal Branding

A strong personal brand portrait does more than document a face. It places someone in context. For an executive like Chaim, being photographed inside Busch Stadium says something instantly: this is his environment, his work, his world. That context is often more powerful than any pose or expression on its own.

This is the same thinking we bring to every personal branding session, whether the subject is a business owner, an executive, or a public figure preparing for a magazine feature. The goal is always to find the setting, the light, and the moment that tells the truth about who someone is and what they do.

Working Quickly Without Cutting Corners

Magazine schedules move fast, and stadium access windows move even faster. Part of the job on a shoot like this is staying prepared so that when the window opens, everything runs smoothly. Locations get scouted in advance, lighting plans get built around available time, and the actual shoot becomes about execution rather than problem solving on the fly.

That preparation is what allowed us to get strong portraits and a video interview done in a short amount of time, without Chaim's schedule or the stadium's operations being disrupted. The result is a set of images and footage that feel unhurried, even though the day itself moved quickly.

Portraits That Do the Talking

When a portrait runs in a magazine like Sophisticated Living, it often becomes the first impression a reader has of that person. There's no headline doing the introducing, no lengthy bio softening the moment. Just the image. That's why these sessions matter so much. The final photographs need to carry the story on their own.

For Chaim, that meant portraits that felt confident, grounded, and connected to the stadium he works in every day. For us, it meant bringing the same care to this stadium shoot that we bring to every personal branding session, regardless of the setting.
